Byung-Ki Cheong

President of Green Technology Center Korea

Dr. Byung-ki Cheong is the President of Green Technology Center Korea (GTC), a government-affiliated research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT that fosters national green technology R&D policies and international cooperation on climate change. He holds BSc and MSc degree from Seoul National University, and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior joining to GTC, Byung-ki Cheong served as a director of Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST)’s Research Planning & Coordination Division and Materials & Life Science Research Division. As an expert in next-generation nano-/electronic materials, he led the development of core/original technologies in the informatics and electronics fields, and his research outcomes in the area of high-speed, high-concentration semiconductors have been transferred to major Korean semiconductor manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
